Need to Have That Quilt Appraised?

An Appraisal Day is planned for March 31, 2023, at the Museum in Kalona Iowa.  ‘Walk-ins’ may be possible, but to make sure of a space and time for your appraisal(s) please contact Charleen Richtsmeier  quilter47.cr@gmail.com   or 641 847 2879 for an appointment.

Anyone who lives within driving distance of Kalona is welcome to take advantage of this day.

Elli Molstadt, Jennifer Perkins, Valorie Bonk and Charleen Richtsmeier (all AQS Certified Appraisers of Quilted Textiles) and Carol Hupp a candidate for testing for certification in April of 2023 will be on hand for the event.

The gathering of information for each appraisal should take approximately 30 – 45 minutes per quilt.  Written appraisals are legal documents, and the fee is $60 per quilt.  Verbal consultations (In case a written appraisal is not advised) do not include a monetary value [of the quilt] and are $30 each.  (payment is to be made at the time of the information gathering)

Anyone bringing a quilt in for an appraisal will be asked to confirm that they are the owner of the quilt or show proof that the owner has consented to having the quilt appraised.

They will also be asked if the quilt has been appraised within the previous three years.

The written appraisals will be sent to the clients by the middle of April 2023.
